2026–27 Results-based rankings

Independent results-based rankings by MLS NEXT Tracker. Not official MLS NEXT rankings or Taka Quality of Play ratings.

How rankings work

Every team in one competition and age group, nationally, by results alone. Teams are ordered by:

  1. Points per game (PPG): win 3, draw 1, loss 0. A shootout after a draw adds nothing.
  2. Goal difference per game (GD/GP)
  3. Goals scored per game (GF/GP)
  4. Games played: the team with more games ranks higher, as the same record over more games is the stronger sample.

A team needs 3 completed games to be ranked. Only completed games with a final score count; unscored, canceled, postponed and future games are left out. Teams level on all four share a rank.

Academy, Homegrown and Pro Player Pathway are ranked separately: their teams don't play each other. Pro Player Pathway is the MLS club academies' U16, U17 and U19 competition within the Homegrown Division, played in four groups (Central, Northeast, Southeast, West). Conferences and groups don't play each other either, so a ranking compares records, not schedule strength.

Movement compares today with the saved ranking from 7 days earlier. A score the league posts late joins the ranking when it appears.
